FamilySearch 1950 US Census Community Project

FamilySearch is working with Ancestry.com to create a searchable index to the 1950 United States Census. The digital images released by the National Archives on April 1, 2022 are not indexed.

Step 1 - Ancestry created an automated index using OCR software.

Step 2 - FamilySearch volunteers are reviewing the automated index to verify or edit the entries.

Step 3 - As each State is completed, the searchable index will be added to FamilySearch and Ancestry 1950 U.S. Census pages on their websites.

Volunteers are needed. YOU can help the genealogy community to complete this task.
